The A/C mode valve is not moving to the commanded position for air distribution. The Mode display shows the commanded change, but the valve is slow to change if at all. It seems stuck sometimes.

Hi,

What I would suggest is to remove the actuator and inspect its operation while it is removed from the mode door. See if the motor is the issue or the door is sticking.

On the other hand, if you hear a clicking when you actuate the motor, replace it.

I attached the directions for the removal and replacement of the actuator. The directions indicate you need to remove the lower instrument panel cover and the body control module (BCM),

Note: The directions indicate disconnecting the BCM. If it is possible for you to simply move the BCM out of the way without disconnecting it, do that. If you have to disconnect it, make sure the battery is disconnected prior to disconnecting and reconnecting the module.

The directions below are broken into three parts. Each part is indicated at the tops of the pages.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you, Joe, for the reply. I will look into attempting to get at the Mode control motor. It sounds pretty complicated. I have never tried to take apart the lower instrument panel. I'm always afraid of breaking some unforeseen plastic fastener while taking things there apart. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

Marty

Hi Marty, just take your time and you'll be fine. It isn't as hard as it seems. LOL

Take care and let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Joe
