I was driving on the interstate today and had to accelerate quickly. My air suddenly went from blowing cold air to blowing air straight from outside. I thought I may have smelled something burning, but I could be wrong. I went out to drive my car five hours later and the air still blows hot.

Check your air conditioner belt. It may have snapped off. If it did check your pulleys to make sure none of them seized up.
