My wife was driving our SUV one day when she smelled a burning smell. Shortly after the AC stopped working. I check the fuses and found fuse 11 was blown. I replaced it and the AC started working again for about a half an hour. I checked the fuses again but cannot find one out. What might the problem be and what was the burning smell?

Good morning.

You are asking us to determine the smell without us even having the chance of smelling it ourselves. Can you describe it in greater detail? What kind of smell?

As far as the fuse I will attach a wire diagram for you to view for the AC system. Check all the connections at the compressor, switches and check the wiring for any damage.

Does everything else work in the truck? Is there another system that does not work as well?

She said it was an electrical burning smell coming from the engine compartment.

Okay, the next step is to see if you can find the area that has had the issue. Start by looking at the harness from the compressor back over the engine and look for any melted insulation or damaged wires.

It will be time consuming to find it. Look around the exhaust manifolds as well as a source of heat may have damaged the harness if it is mounted to close.
