My A/C comes on and gets cool but not cold. I have already had a switch put on and added coolant. What could be the problem? Do I need to check the filter or fuse?

You should have the system evacuated and recharged to the proper amount of Freon. Once properly charged read off the low and high pressure gauge readings for any abnormalities.

If the high pressure reads really high, verify the fan is coming on and blowing strong. Have seen a few fans fail or have loose pins at the fan connector. Let us know what you find.
