I have the truck listed above 1500 1/2-ton pickup and I'm having to replace the rear-end. My question is, will the rear-end from a 1993 model work in my 1999 Chevrolet?

Hi,

There are different ring gear sizes. (Three I believe). Are you replacing the entire axle assembly? The internal components (ring gear, pinion gear, bearings, are different between the two years. If I recall, it can be done, but the ring and pinion must be the same as the original one and bearing sizes need to change.

If you are replacing the entire assembly, it should work, but I recommend measuring where it sits on the leaf springs, measuring the length, and so on. Also, make sure the leaf spring perch is correct. Again, it has been a while, but something is telling me the newer one is wider.

Let me know as much as you can. Hopefully, I'll be of more help. Also, I attached two pics below of the bearing and race I feel you will need to use if only the internal components are being used. Again, you will need to do measuring to confirm, but the part numbers are there for you.

Take care and I hope you have a good New Year,

Joe
