About 4 weeks ago I was driving and lost all power in my car and pulled over on the side of the road and it wouldn't start. It had been leaking coolant and the most recent thing done prior to this was the heater core getting flushed. It was leaking coolant and I had a friend bring me some water to try and start it and get it home and it didn't work, and I had it towed. My OBD was with me and the only code it read was a camshaft sensor malfunction.
It appeared that the coolant was leaking from the water pump, so I purchased a new water pump and timing belt, camshaft sensor and intake manifold gasket and thermostat just to shut everybody up. When it was leaking coolant, it was not overheating, and everyone kept saying thermostat. After I got everything off, I discovered the timing belt was broken. Replaced everything listed and a new serpentine belt. I took it for a short test drive and on my way back towards the house lost all power in the gas pedal and coasted down my street into the driveway before it shut off.
Started the car up later and it behaved as if there was a vacuum leak. The only code was IAC issue. Cleaned up the idle air control valve and reset the code by touching the battery cables. It would start and then shut off. Told it was a timing issue. Took the belt off and got it tight and the timing set correctly and now it runs without shutting off but there is no acceleration in the gas pedal. I can hear the fuel pump kicking on and I've already checked the fuel shut off switch. There are no codes but that's because it's reading a p1000 possibly. Definitely needs its drive cycle. Of course, I've considered it to be the head gasket but with each repair it has gotten better, but it's still not fixed. If it's a head gasket, so be it, I'll buy a bottle of stuff to pour in it. This is my only vehicle, and I am at my wit's end and clueless as to how I should proceed. Thank you, thank you so much for anyone's help.
