Recently I had my valve cover changed to fix an oil leaking problem, and since then my car dies sometimes when I am going up a hill when I'm not on the gas. (Think of going up a sharp uphill turn and the beginning you are only using momentum) I have no idea if it is related to the valve cover being replaced or if it is a separate problem.

It has also died at stop lights when idling and I go to take off. Sometimes my check engine light will come on and then go away within several seconds as well when I am driving.

I can get the car to start again by pedaling the gas. It is also seems easier to restart it when the car is flat and not on a hill.

Any ideas what the problem is my good fellows?

May not be related directly, start with a scan to see what codes are set that have caused the check light to come on, report the codes here for further assistance.

Hi Linkscorchio,

Here is a link to an article that features written step by step instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself, also I have included a link to our YouTube channel with a how to video on code scanning. Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one online from sites like Amazon.com. Once you have the codes please get back to us so that we can further assist you. We are always happy to help.
