Hi, I have the car listed above and it’s throwing code 41 which is a throttle position circuit fault, and I was just wondering if this code could make the vehicle not start as mine won’t start. I tried changing the sensor and it still did nothing.
But it has it has fuel on spark, good compression too.

Hi,

If you have spark, fuel, and good compression, the only other thing that would prevent it from running would be engine timing.

Do me a favor. We may not be getting the fuel injectors to actuate. See if the engine starts and then stalls if you use starting fluid. If it does, then we know it is a fuel-related issue.

Also, if you could record it cranking and upload it for me to hear, it may be helpful. Here is a link you may find helpful.

Let me know.

Okay, so I checked the timing and it’s all on time and I tried spraying that into throttle body and still nothing.

Could you have spark with a bad crank sensor?

If the crankshaft position sensor is bad, you shouldn't have spark. Did you check for spark? Just for curiosity, if you have a tachometer, does it move at all when cranking? Also, here is a link that explains how to check for spark. Do this if you haven't.

If there was no change when using starting fluid, I suspect you will find there is no ignition spark.

Let me know.

Yes, the tachometer does move when cranking it over and I have checked for spark and there is spark at the spark plugs, but when you go to the ignition coil the spark had no gap. When you put a test light near it you have to touch the Ignition coil with test light just to get any spark.

Hi,

If you are getting spark to the plugs, the coil must be working. When you checked the spark at the plugs, is it a blue snapping spark or does it appear white or orange in color? We may have a weak coil.

Let me know.

Hi,

Not that it's bad, but rather, weak. Are the wires to the plugs and at the coil all clean, tight, and free of corrosion or damage?

At the coil, there will be a red wire to the + and a blue wire to the -. With the key on, check for battery voltage to the red wire.

Let me know. Also, let me know how old the spark plugs are.

Hi,

Thank you for the update. I had a feeling there was an issue with the coil. I suspected it was a poor connection, loose or corroded. However, a crack absolutely will do it too.

I'm glad to know you have it fixed. Take care and feel free to come back in the future. You are always welcome here.
