My 8.1 vortec starts and stops after 1-2 seconds, but my fuel pump works and it has new sparks plugs.

This could be a fuel issue so we should check the pressure but lets start with the idle air control which on this engine appears to be the throttle blade. You have a Throttle Actuator Control module that basically controls the throttle in all situations.

I attached info on this below but here is a guide that will help with cleaning this as that could be the issue:

However, before we get too far down this road, is the theft light on or flashing when this happens?

An active theft system will cause these issues so we need to make sure that is not happening.

If the throttle bore is clean then we need to make sure the pressure is correct by checking it using this guide:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

Below you will find all the info from the manual on not only stalling but how to do the pressure test on this engine.

Please run through this info and let us know what you find and we can dig in further.

Thanks
