I’m rebuilding my 5.3 LS; I have stock crankshaft. I plan on getting new pistons and want to gen 4 rods. If I balance all the pistons rods, and pins at home would with in 2 grams would that be good enough balance and just install on stock crank shaft and install? Or should I get balanced with crank shaft?

Hey there!

I would get everything balanced. Take the pistons, rods, wristpins, crankshaft, damper, flex plate/flywheel. It is not crazy expensive, and it will make your engine spin so nice and smooth. You will end up with more power, smoother revs, and a longer lasting engine. Totally worth it!

Thank you for using 2CarPros!

Best,
Ryan
