Hi, seen your video on YouTube a few years ago and now started watching it again this year coming I want to pull my engine out of my 2001 Silverado and copy your build piece by piece bolt by bolt. Main concern is will it be good for emissions and if not, what should I do differently compared to your build. Also, what do you recommend for transmission I don’t mind what it will cost me. I just want it to be as perfect as possible. I want to build my 2001 Silverado.

Hey thank you so much for watching! If you do copy my build exactly, just note that I put on shorter valve covers in the video, but I linked the tall ones, which you need to clear the roller rocker arms I used. I did swap them out later after the video was published.

So, if you are in California, my LM7 build will never pass smog. I'm not sure there is any way to make it pass smog other than rebuilding it stock. That is why I only deal with cars from pre 1975. But if you live in South Dakota or something let it rip! So, it just depends on where you live.

Well then, I would have to recommend the 4L80E, it bolts right up and the computer that controls the LS should be able to control that too. 4L60E which your truck came with most likely will work very well too but it is not as strong. Would be much easier though.

Let me know how it turns out! Thanks for using 2CarPros!

Best,
Ryan
