Four wheel drive will not disengage

fifth gear broke and the gearbox was recently overhauled.

The green light that indicated that four wheel drive is selected will not go off when 2H is selected. The consequence is that the FRW light stays on and the front wheel hubs remains locked in.

Could this be wiring that was wrongly connected? since the hubs on the front wheels were not touched.

I am assuming this was not the case prior to being fixed. it may be like you say or the wiring was not disconnected from transfer case and possibly stretched messing it up. scan for codes auto parts does for free.
