This is the second time it has happened. The first time I took out the transfer case and put it back in awd manually. Now it is stuck again in 4 high, and I can’t get it to go back into awd.

This happens when the transfer case actuator motor gets weak and can disengage. Here is how to change the motor out in the images below. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

That part is gone I removed it the first time it happened. Then put it in awd manually.

You might have a problem internally with the transfer case. There is a shift fork that can wear and cause the actuator not to work. Can you try rocking the vehicle back and forth while trying to shift it?
