Just watched a YouTube video on it and it recommends backing off 2 1/2 turns once tightened down to 72 in/lb for the front band adjustment. The service manual says three turns.
YouTube video says three full turns for the rear band. The service manual says four.
I just want to use the best procedure and preferably not make things worse.

Hi Steelerdynasty,

I understand there are a lot of videos on the internet showing you how to do something. What is being described is not that much of a difference but since you are asking the question, the answer I always stick to is what the engineers stated would be the best setting. Not some guy on the internet.

Just so we are on the same page, you probably will not have an issue if you go with the setting from the video but let's think about what that 1/2 turn or full turn that the are not taking out does. That will keep the band just a touch tighter and more than likely will keep it dragging the drum a little bit more than what the engineer called for. That may not sound like a big deal and this guy on the video may have never had an issue but again, he didn't design it. I am always going to side with the people that designed it. However, I am very familiar with this product and there is absolutely no reason this person on the video is suggesting the different settings other than they want to be different or have an issue following directions, kidding. It is not like they have figured something else out that is going to prevent a failure if you use his setting vs the book.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
