Recently, my truck will not disengage from 4 wheel drive. My switch would not light up so I checked my fuses. The 4 wheel one was fine, but my transfer case one was blown. After replacing that, the switch lit up and I tried to switch to 2 wheel and it blew again. So I was thinking maybe my actuator, but when I unplug it, it still blows fuses. I then thought maybe the transfer case motor, and unplugged that and tried and it's still blowing fuses so being it is not actually connecting to those parts, I assume they should be good. The plugs look okay. Is there somewhere else I can check next and see if I can fix it?

Good afternoon,

I would go to the control module under the dash and disconnect the module and see if the fuse still fails.

If it does, you have a wiring issue from the fuse block to the module.

If it does not, then the module is the issue and must be replaced.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the lower instrument panel trim.
2. Remove the two screws securing the transfer case control module to the bracket.
The bracket is mounted on the UP reinforcement.

Thanks for the reply. All kinds of Bs going on right now. I think I finally found that part. I have removed the 2 bolts holding it and it won't come down. Can't twist, pull or really move much. I tried getting my hand up there and play with the plug, but can't seem to get it off. How does that plug connect? A piece of maybe a latch? Fell from it but I can't seem to get it off I thought if I brought the part down, it would be easier to work with, but it won't come down. Is there something that it can be catching on?

Thanks again for your time. I must be doing something wrong because I try to "slide" it over, and only the bottom seem to slide so it kinda twists. I've tried wiggling it. The bottom of the plate its on I tried to bend a little to get around that bracket piece it connects to. It almost acts like if you have 4 bolts and remove three and loosen one slightly you can move it back and forth. That's what I am getting. Maybe I will take a while off and try again when I am not frustrated. Wish I were a gymnast, lol my body is bending in ways I am not used to. Thanks again. How does that plug connect? That way if I can't get it out maybe I can remove the plug with it in place.

There is a release tab. It most likely has to be lifted to release the connector.
