Engine shuts off when four drive is engaged

When I engage the four wheel drive it instantly shuts off.

When it shuts off can you tell me if it is a bang and the engine stops or is it like someone just turned the key off? Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response. Please let me know.

When you turn it on it engages and then disengages.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you are saying, does it stall the engine and then disengage?

No, the engine doesn't stall. The 4wd engages and then disengages on its own.
