shift the transmission into gear the vehicle will move a little, then no gears no movement but engine still running?

Crank shift into gear vehicle will move a little then no gears no movement but engine still running. After a little while you can restart and try again same thing. We have put 3 different transmissions in, new filter, fluid, no metal in pans.

I would have a helper out the car in gear while you look under at the driveshaft to see if it is turning, you may have a broken axle, does the transmission grind when putting it into park? Then this might be the case. Also, did you look at the flex plate to make sure it is not cracked around the crankshaft bolts and just spins? Also, do the reverse lights work and the gear range light for the gear selector? If not, the gear range sensor could be out. Let us know what you find.
