Hi,
Does the vehicle have a mechanical linkage to shift the transfer case or is it electric?
If it is mechanical, the first thing I suggest is to make sure the fluid is full. If it is full, then I would try adjusting the shift linkage.
If you look below, I attached the directions for adjustment. Try this and let me know the results.
