I tried to open the sunroof the other day and heard a loud "clunk". After that, the sunroof would attempt to open then close again. I tried to use the initialization process and it moved the shade, but the glass was stuck. I removed the glass and cleared the obstruction in the track. Once I replaced the glass, I tried the initialization again and now I get no response. The shade will move to the middle position and fully open. When I press the glass open or vent buttons there is no response. When I press the close button, I hear a click, but no movement. Any help/advice (other than paying the ridiculous amount a dealership asks) would be greatly appreciated!

Okay. Couple questions. Can you elaborate on when you removed the glass and what obstruction was there?

More than likely the motor failed when there was an obstruction there. So, we need to run through this testing to find out what info is there.

I am attaching the info below from the manual on what testing needs to be done in order to figure out what the issue is. Clearly I suspect it is the motor, but this will confirm that.

Let me know what questions you have or what you find. Thanks

The obstruction was the little plastic pieces that broke off the bottom of the rails. I’ve seen in a lot of forums that this is a common issue. I’ll follow your instructions on checking the wiring tomorrow when it’s light out and not raining and report back.

Got it. Yeah, I have seen that as well on this body style. Sounds great. Based on that, if we can confirm the motor is okay then it may be a track issue. When you reinstalled, the glass did it slide through the full travel?

I am attaching the adjustment procedure because if the motor is ok then this may be the problem.

Thanks. Let us know what happens tomorrow.

No, the glass won’t move at all. It would attempt to move before I did the initialization process, but now I get nothing.

I think the problem was alignment all along! I disconnected the motor and moved the tracks to the furthest point backward. Once I did that, I replaced the glass and re-initialized, and it works fine now! Thank you, guys, for your help!

That is great and what I was hoping would be the issue. Thanks for the update and coming back to let us know what the solution was.

Thanks
