Car listed above is a four door LX model. So a month ago we took our Honda to get serviced At the Honda dealership we purchased the car from, they said car is good but the battery is bad. We decided to wait on the battery change and went home. Now I purchased a battery at shop near our home and I changed the battery myself. Since the car won’t start it revs up but the engine won’t catch. Since we paid for two mechanics to look at our Honda and one said I needed to Change the fuel pump, but the other mechanics said the fuel pump is fine, and just need to change the negative ground on the battery post so that’s what I did I ordered a part from Honda and replaced the negative ground. this morning the car started but then the engine turned off again. We need help with this issue. I do not know if maybe a code needs to be reset for the fuel pump to gain power and the engine to start. I do not know if that’s like a Honda fail safe for when the battery is changed. I do not know but we need help. I no longer have a clue what can be the issue. Please help if possible thank you.

Hi,

This sounds like a fuel pump or the crankshaft angels sensor has gone out. When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Please run down this guide and report back. Low fuel pressure can cause what you are experiencing. That is where I would start checking. Here is a link that shows how it is done in general:

I would be happy to provide the specifics for testing, but I will need to confirm the year, the engine size, and if it is AWD because I don't believe they make a Civic that is AWD.

Please confirm.
