Hello, when I try and start it makes a loud squealing noise to the point it won’t stop until I switch gears.

Hi,

Does it sound like a belt squeal? Once you place it in gear and it stops, does it start again if you drive, or is there anything that can cause it to make noise after the initial start-up?

If possible, could you record it and upload it for me to hear?

Let me know.

Hi,

I just listened to the video again. That sounds like your starter motor. It stops when you place it in gear because of its design. Either the starter motor is faulty, or something took the teeth off the flywheel.

We need to remove and inspect the starter motor. I suspect the Bendix/solenoid is not engaging the drive gear on the starter motor.

Have a helper turn the key while you listen near the starter motor area to see if that is where the sound comes from.

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, I had the transmission and the alternator look at yesterday, I was told that it was all good and I don’t think I have the tools to check the codes.
