Hi! I just bought a 2014 Dodge Avenger about 10 days ago. It had 8 miles on it when I drove off the lot. It now has about 200 miles. The past few days when I first start it, I can hear this loud, rattling under the front end. (sounds like some sort of metal or tin rattling) It goes away after about 25 seconds. If I shut it off after the rattling stops, in an effort to hear it again I restart it, but no rattle. ONLY on a cold start up. What could this be? Sound familiar?? Of course now I have to bring it in to the dealer but I wondered if you know what this could be?

Hello,

It will be helpful if you can upload a video during cold start that way, we can hear the noise.

It could be a noisy secondary air pump.
At cold startups the pump does make some noise, however it should not be very obvious. Usually, it is not audible from the inside of the vehicle.

If it is making excess noise the dealership should be able to diagnose and repair if necessary.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
