On my first drive with the Cadillac Ats 2.0 Turbo four I was stepping it down and I thought it was going to shift because I didn't realize I had it in manual mode and I had it revved very high for a few seconds and afterwards it smelled like burnt clutch or brakes. Could it be that I over revved? Could over revving do damage to the turbo? I'm not sure but I thought the smell came from the exhaust. Could the burnt smell be connected to over revving?

it may have been just from being in manual low and revving so high it's still under warranty so don't worry about it. the big thing with a turbo is not to shut car off right away, let it idle so turbo will slow down prior to turn It off and use synthetic oil because of heat it gives off as well as no lube when the car is shut off so it will be a lot better for it.
