What causes a heater to throwing out air that foggs up my windows versus releasing heat to keep the inside of my car warm?

Most commonly, a bad heater core will produce steam from a leak. As a result, it fogs the windshield. Tell me, is there a slimy substance on the glass? Does it have an odor to it?

Once other common problem is that people let the recirculate / fresh air door in the recirculate position. That can also cause window fogging.

Let me know about the details.

Yes there is a odor and its a little greasy on the glass window

I am having coolant problems. I wonder if they are all related. Strange because they just replaced my coolant overflow, my coolant pipe connector, my actuator for the A/C, and a bunch of other sensors and parts. I think something major is causing all these electrical parts to fail.

Oh and no other buttons were on. I only had the heater arrow in the red side versus blue which is cold. The last button on the air to come out of the top face vents. The re-circulation button was not on.

It sounds like the heater core is bad. How many miles are on this vehicle?

My issue is during winter my son hit a buck deer and since the heater quit heating and the A/C quit cooling. Fuses are good, compressor kicks in, blower motor works fine. What the what? Frustrating.

Hi,

I would be happy to help; however, I have to ask a favor. Could you copy and paste your question to a new thread. We are trying to keep the threads specific to one topic. Someone will be happy to answer your question.

I hope you understand.

Thanks,
Joe
