The bottom frame on the passenger side of my car is scrapped and bent under a little bit. It is a pretty long scrap starting at the middle of the front door going to the middle of the back door. It isn't bent much at all just mostly scrapped. I think I probably just curbed it.

I'VE "HIGH CENTERED" MY FIRST THREE CJ-5s MANY TIMES, MOSTLY ON DIRT OR GRAVEL HUMPS. MAYBE A FEW TIMES ON BIG ROCKS.

BEINGS THAT IT IS MADE TO TAKE SOME OF THIS PUNISHMENT, HAVING SKID PLATES OVER THE VITALS AND A HEAVY DUTY FRAME (SEPARATE FROM THE BODY), I CAN'T THINK OF A SINGLE TIME THAT I ACTUALLY CAUSED ANY HELL DAMAGE WITH BEING IN THOSE TYPE SITUATIONS (MAYBE SOME SCUFFED OFF PAINT AND HEAVY SCRATCHES)

SORTA GOTTA KEEP IN MIND THAT I KNEW EXACTLY WHERE I WAS AND WHAT I WAS ATTEMPTING TO DO! ONE MORE FACTOR IN MY EQUATION: I WAS MOVING SLOW IN EACH CASE, LIKE 5 MPH OR LESS.

AS FOR YOUR SITUATION

YOU NEVER REALLY ASKED ANY QUESTION?

SO I'M JUST ASSUMING THAT YOU WANT A "IT'LL BE OKAY!"

WELL MAYBE NOT

YOU SEEM UNSURE OF HOW THIS HAPPENED

THEREFORE WE DON'T KNOW THE SPEED YOU MAY HAVE ATTEMPTED THIS 50-50 (I THINK THAT'S THE SKATEBOARDING TERM)

MAYBE YOU LENT YOUR LITTLE RIG TO YOUR PAL, WHO COULDA DONE THIS?

WELL THESE NEW LITTLE RIGS (EVEN FROM YEARS GONE BY) REALLY DO NOT HAVE A FRAME, PER SAY, THE "FRAME LIKE FEATURE" IS STAMPED OUT INTO THE BODY (SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS A UNI-BODY)

SOMETIMES BENDING OR SMASHING DOWN ON THESE "FRAME LIKE FEATURES" MIGHT ACTUALLY WARP THE OPPOSITE SIDE (DISFIGURE THE SAFE DESIGN IN SOME MANNER). TIRES MAY WEAR TERRIBLY, STEERING MIGHT SUFFER. IT MAY NOT WITHSTAND A CRASH LIKE IT USE-TO-COULD. HECK, OTHER STUFF MAY BE DAMAGED THAT YOU DON'T SEE (SQUISHED LINES, WIRES, ETC.

LAST TIME I SAW DAMAGE "IN ACTION" LIKE THIS, WAS THIS GAL TEXTING AWAY (OBVIOUSLY NOT "DRIVING") AND HURTLED UP ONTO THE CONCRETE MEDIAN AND TOOK OUT TWO SIGNS, T'WAS A COOL SIGHT! SHE WAS NOT HURT (BUT WAS THIS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE?)

I BELIEVE AT MINIMUM, YOU NEED TO TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED (ASE) SHOP FOR AN INSPECTION OF THE UNDERSIDE

YOUR TURN

I was just curious if anyone had an idea about how much these types
Of things usually cost.

AROUND HERE

THE SMALLER INDEPENDENT (YET, STILL QUALIFIED) SHOPS MIGHT DO AN INSPECTION FOR FREE, OR MAYBE FOR A SMALL FEE, $50 OR LESS?

AREAS DIFFER WITH PRICING, BUT I RECKON CALLING AROUND AND ASKING WOULD BE YOUR BEST COURSE OF ACTION

SHOULD THEY FIND A NEED-FIXIN' DEFICIENCY, I FEEL SURE THEY WOULD GIVE YOU AN ESTIMATE

WITH THAT BIT OF INFO, YOU MIGHT BE BETTER INFORMED, AND FIND ANOTHER OPINION/ ESTIMATE, BEFORE YOU COMMIT.

MAYBE YOUR DAMAGE IS SLIGHT AND YOU WILL PASS W/ FLYING COLORS!

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

RETURN TO THIS THREAD AND LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES
