my car will start, drive for a bit and then it won't go forward when I step on the gas. The RPM's will go up but the car won't move, then the hill start light will turn on. when the hill start light is on the car won't start.

Sounds like a transmission failure. It appears to be slipping when it gets hot which usually means a serious internal problem.
