Pinion nut loose?

I replaced the pinion nut, crush sleeve on my truck because the rear differential was leaking oil and the nut had come loose and there were metal filings in the oil.

Within a month the nut is loose again, and the seal is leaking oil. There are no metal filings in the oil.

Why is the new nut loose again? How can I ensure the nut is properly installed?

Edit to tags: V8 diesel engine, no turbo.

I'm not showing a non-turbo diesel engine as an option for this vehicle. See pic below. Please confirm that for me. Also, by chance do you know which differential the vehicle has?

Hi,

That helps. The truck likely has a Ford 10.5" differential. If the pinion nut is coming loose, are you staking the new pinion nut after it is torqued? If you do this, the nut should stay tight.
