2012 Dodge Charger oil change

when do you check your engine oil.Dealer says 6qts.When I put 6qts in it regs. 1 qt too full in the morning when cold.So I put 5qts in and it says full in the morning when cold.but 1 qt low when hot.

You should be able to check it cold or hot, but when hot you will have to let it sit for a few minuets to allow all the oil to run back down into the sump as there will be some oil still up in the rocker covers.

And the 6 quts is correct quantity, that includes changing the oil filter as well
