When the weather is cold, I experience this when I first drive in the morning. As I drive and stop on a red light it seems to be ok but when I start driving, my van does not move for about 3 to 5 seconds and I have to step on the gas, suddenly I can feel a jerk that feels the gear had engaged. After the jerk or bump, everything will be fine especially when the engine gets hot. When the weather is warm, everything is ok. I went to the dealer about this but they said I will need a transmission service

Hi,

Servicing the transmission isn't a difficult job, but it can be messy. So, make sure to have plenty of shop towels and a catcher for the fluid.

To get you started, here is a link that shows in general how to service a transmission. You can use this to help guide you through the process.

If you look at the attachments below, they contain the directions specific to your vehicle for servicing the transmission.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
