I'm very intersted in buying a new 2011 Genesis Coupe 3.8L Track 6 manual. But the suspension is very harsh and my wife has neck injuries from an old car accident. (Not my fault!) We both love the car otherwise (power, handling, 10 yr warranty, styling, price). Here's my question: Could we swap out the suspension system for something that would make the car ride more smoothly? Would air shocks let me soften the ride when she's with me and on long trips, but have the sportier suspension and good handling otherwise? Our key alternative looks like the BMW 328ix, which is about $12 grand more, so I'd be willing to spend a little money on the Genesis suspension. And how much would something like that cost? Advice and alternatives are most welcome. I want a sporty car that's fun to drive, looks cool, has great long-term reliability, and room to carry stuff on trips (and I shop at Sam's Club.)

Sporty cars are made with harsher suspension for better handling, forgoing comfort. Mking the ride soft would take the fun away and if you want to stress out the engine, it would not be safe as soft suspension does not go with high speed.

To change the uspension, there are many things to consider. With a softer suspension, the ride height would have to be increased.

Air suspension would definitely make the ride more comfortable but the weight of the vehicle have to be taken into consideration. The lighter the car, the more difficult it is to make the ride comfortable.

The other problem would be to source suitable parts for the modification. The 12 grand might not be sufficient to cover the total modification cost so if you really want a softer ride, my opinion is to get another vehicle that meets your requirements without any modifications.
