my wife put 5 gallons of diesel in the gas tank ----can you take the fuel filter off and turn the key on to let the fuel pump run and pump it out

it will only run for 2 seconds. the pump will run full time when it starts

I would have the tank dropped, flushed and installed.

I would recommend removing the tank and draining and cleaning the tank. If the engine was run after she did it, you will most likely need to clean the fuel line and injectors.
