Really dumb question: can a standard compact vehicle climb up to the top of Mt. Charleston or do I need to rent another type of car? Mt. Charleston lodge is 7,717 feet. We are hoping to take a trip up to Mt. Charleston Lodge and the Grand Canyon Skywalk. I have a Chevy aveo and wondered if it is safe to take it there or if I should rent another stronger vehicle?

As long as it is not overloaded, the cooling system is functioning properly, and the engine is running fine, it should make it. You may not get there as fast as a Viper, but you'll get there,

Glad to help. Just check all the fluids and make sure everything is clean and full.
