NEW 61 PLATE SEPTEMBER 2011 KNOCKING SOUND FROM ENGINE, TOLD BY BMW THIS IS NORMAL, IS THIS TRUE, PETROL ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A DIESAL CONVERTABLE MINI COOPER S COOPER WORKS TUNING KIT. NOT HAPPY WITH BMW ANSWER.

Is it knocking under load if so could be detonating/pinging and the knock sensor is not retarding the ignition timing-
