Background: I have a 2011 BMW 328i sedan with less than 20kmi. It was in a front end crash to the right front, but now I am fixing it. After the crash it would start but then it showed the radiator fluid as low and then a month later it wouldn't start and I figured between the low battery and the cracked radiator overflow reservoir was the cause. It had the front RT headlight, fog light, horn, sensor on the front fender and radiator overflow smashed, a couple of the brown wires coming off the grounding block stripped, and the lower control arm & tie rod bent, plus the driver wheel and driver curtain airbags blown. I have replaced the suspension components and the radiator over flow and refilled with factory fluid. The battery went low so I took it out and recharged to 100%. I also sometimes get an illustration on the dash car-on-a-lift icon. Also, the key fob, door and trunk lock, radio, etc. All work.
Question: now when I go to start it, shows “service engine soon”, and all the lights on the dash are shown but it just clicks once and won’t start. What could be going on? I want to start the car so I can run my INNOVA 3150 diagnostic tool on the engine and SRS system, but this tool won’t work unless the engine is on. How can I diagnose this and is there a diagnostic tool that work without the engine running for the e90 BMW’s? Going to the dealer is not an option for me at this point. Or is there other things to check before it will fire up that may be going on? Or is the horn, or lights, or others not being plugged in stopping it from starting?
