how do i test for a short in a starter motor.

i have being finding it difficult to test a starter motor short with a test light, how do i go by it .

You can try checking the armature/commutator-but if I were you just replace the starter motor to prevent further problems

What makes you think the starter is shorted? I can't remember ever seeing one do that.
