I have a nissan maxima 2010 model the car suddenly stopped moving after the red light went green I barely moved after a couple of tries mayb 10km/h, I sent it to the dealer and they ran a scan on it and it gave the following faults: P0746, P0826, p0868 fluid pressure low. They said the transmission needs changing and would cost 10,000 $ with labour charges, which is a rip off I live in qatar so the extended warranty doesnt apply here.

Is it possible that just the fluid is dirty and needs changing or the pc solenoid need changing? Can u help?
do you think if I just change the solenoid itll work?

Those codes are pressure and shift problems, it would be a good idea to first get the transmission oil flushed and the filter changed, if the oil is very dirty and smells burnt, the problem may be terminal.

I've checked the oil it wasn't red as people say it was a bit red/brown the mechanic said its normal to be that way from the engine, and it didn't have a burning smell. If I do that would car go back to normal and start working again?

The filter may be blocked give the low pressure problem, you will have to get the transmission line pressures checked, probably would be good to get this done first, I would be getting a transmission specialist to do this rather than a dealer.

My info says 7.3Liters. But I'm sure if that is for the whole trans or not. I'm pretty sure it won't take 7 L for a trans filter. That's seems a lot for just doing a filter.

This cooler is a little different than a typical cooler inside the radiator. The cooler is bolts to the side of the transmission. Here are diagrams to help you see what I am talking about.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers

Hello,

Here is a guide that will help you see what you are in for when doing the job.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-service-an-automatic-transmission

Here are the fluid type and capacity.

Fluid Capacity
4AT 9 3/8 qt (8.9 liters, 7 7/8 imp qt)
5AT 7 3/4 qt (7.3 liters, 6 3/8 imp qt)

and

Recommended fluid
4AT NISSAN Matic "D" (Continental U.S. and Alaska) or Canada NISSAN Automatic Transmission Fluid *
5AT Genuine NISSAN Matic "K" ATF **
*DEXRON III/MERCON or equivalent may also be used. Outside the continental United States and Alaska contact a NISSAN dealership for more information regarding suitable fluids, including recommended brands of DEXRON III/MERCON Automatic Transmission Fluid.

**Using automatic transmission fluid other than Genuine NISSAN MATIC "K" ATF will cause deterioration in driveablity and automatic transmission durability, and may damage the automatic transmission, which is not covered by NISSAN new vehicle limited warranty.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

Do you mean transmission is not working or engine is stalling?
The transmission fluid should not be the main cause of this.

For your vehicle, use Nissan Matic "D", Dexron-III / Mercon ATF.

It holds 10 quarts (9.4 Liters)
