When the brake is applied, the working tail light goes out. Turn signal works fine. I assumed this would be a quick light build replacement as it has been on every other Ford I have ever owned but there is no way to get to the light build. Do I seriously have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a simple tail light to work by replacing the entire lens assembly? SMH

Surprise! I bet the salesman didn't want you to know that. Some manufacturers are very customer-friendly and build their vehicles to be repaired as economically as possible. Some are very customer-unfriendly and are after quick profits from expensive repairs with little regard to making loyal repeat customers. They have to keep advertising for new customers because too many of their current ones won't come back for their next car. Ford is somewhere in the middle. One of the biggest problems with Ford is they do a very poor job of supporting their vehicles with replacement parts after five or six years. You have to hope the aftermarket parts suppliers take over and keep making those parts.

In this case you can save some money by buying a rebuilt tail lamp assembly. Check the Rock Auto web site and others like it. If new ones are still available from Ford, Rock Auto will have them listed under "Body - Exterior".
