The clutch master cylinder may be bad and is not dis-engaging the clutch. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and follow the line from it to the slave cylinder to check for leaks. You could also try bleeding the system. You might also need a new clutch as the pressure plate may have failed. The worst case scenario is that there may be a problem with the first gear synchro and you would need the transmission rebuilt.
