sometimes when my car is cold it sputters when I start it, then after awhile it will start to idle fine. I've noticed it's been using more gas than normal as well. I've also noticed that when I start my car it has a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. and sometimes the smell that comes from the exhaust is in my car. my check engine light is not on either.
