A split second delay

Does a split second delay in starting up on cold starts indicate a weak battery or is that normal sometimes? It is not a cranking problem but sometimes it takes 2/10th of a second more to catch on cold starts.

FOr the starter to come on?If so it wouldnt be a bad idea to have the battery and alternator tested and make sure the battery cables are clean and tight.

No the car starts (cranks) but it sometimes takes an extra 2/10th of a second to catch (turn over/on) on cold starts. This is very very minor but sometimes I notice it. There is never any problem on warm starts. Does it still need to be checked or is this normal? If it needs to be checked can it wait until my next oil change or is it something that could just fail?

It takes a little longer to crank when the outside temp is colder because the battery puts out less cranking amps the colder it is.On the other side of the coin when the batteries start to go bad you will notice it more when its colder.A battery can fail at anytime so i would get that battery tested out as soon as you can.The auto parts stores test the battery and alternators for free.
