On my 2010 Ford Focus I had a paint chip about the size of a dime. It seems to have gotten a little bit larger over time but I am not 100% sure. Do these chips tend to get larger or to stay the same size?

Depends what caused it. If it started from a rock chip, it will spread very slowly as moisture gets under the edges of the paint and works its way in. If it was due to poor bonding of the paint to the primer, the entire panel was prepared the same way and peeling will likely continue. Very often manufacturers will have some type of extended warranty for "paint delamination" problems.
