the rattle is intermitant. come and goes from the left front wheel to the right. makes the noise on flat ground, over bumps at diffrent speeds, one i put it into 4wd it goes away. checked all the heat shields, dust shields.ect it the noise is coming from the right i can turn left and it will make the noise if i turn right it goes away. same for the oppisite side.

More than likely the auto locking hubs a not disengaged all the way, most of the ones I have heard make more of a clicking noise, I believe they are vacuum operated and the seal in them leaks vacuum resulting in being half engaged resulting in the rattle/cliking noise, or in some cases it may be vacuum supply, like a leaking or broken vacuum hose going to the hub, but in most cases the hub itself is bad, hope this helps.
