2010 Ford Escape Ask Very Small Piece Handle Plastic Disposable Fork Got Into

Don't ask how, but a very small piece of the handle of a plastic disposable fork got into my gas tank (maybe 1/8"x1/4", if that). Will this simply dissolve over time or is there any chance of it ever making it into the engine?

it will break up and most of it will be trapped in the fuel filter.
