I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu and none of the windows work when the driver's side door is closed. If I open the drivers door then I can lower and raise them, but when the door is closed nothing happens. Can you tell me what could be the issue?

Broken or frayed wires between the door hinges.

So there are broken or frayed wires behind all the hinges or behind the just the hinges on the driver side. It is curious that is happens only when driver side door is open. When the driver side door is open the window on that side is inoperable.

Yup. The wires twist and flex when the door is moved. The ends of the wires can touch and make temporary contact when the door is in a certain position. That can be open, closed, in between or as the door is being moved and the wires slide slowly in the gooey plastic wrap.
