coolant light is on and the heat won't work

low coolant in system reduces circulation thus robbing heater core of needed constant supply of hot water to make heat. open radiator cap and fill to top. make sure overflow bottle has it's required supply to indicated by line/mark on outside. usually 1/4 to 1/3 full.
