on a cold day (-10F) I got rough ride and number of lights came on. Towed to the dealer, they say it is broken cylinder valve that caused extensive damage to the engine.
They will replace most of the engine - short block and one cylinder head. They are not replacing second cylinder head.
Car is still under warranty. Is it normal practice to repair engine like that, or should I demand a new engine?
What kind of problems I should watch for after such repair.

you can demand but you wont get it. the manufacturer is calling the shots. they will still stand behind the repair.

let them fix it and move forward.
