Noise from rear of car

There's a noise, like the fuel pump or a small air compressor for air shocks, at the rear when the car is off. Comes on intermittenly. Is this normal?

I would suspect one of the EVAP system vacuum valves. If it is the case, it is not normal but is harmless except it might trigger the MIL.
