Starter problem

I had this problem and had to get a new battery cost me $132.00 All fixed I love this site!

Battery is charged, all lights and radio come on but engine will not turn over. I turn the key to start the car and a series of clicks occur from the engine area. When I stop cranking there is a noise coming from the glove box area on the right side. In addition, when the key is in the on position there is a grinding noise(sounds like a hum) coming from the engine. I've had a lengthy issue with the clicks and engine not turning over but eventually does after many tries. It has not worked in five days though. Could it be the neutral switch? If so, where is that located in my car?

I noticed for a the past few weeks the car felt like it was stalling a little bit. There was a slight pause in the engine every now and then. (That part may have been unrelated).

But today it was hot and I parked the car and was listening to the radio with the car off. When I went to turn the car back on it didn't turn over.

I got a jump and the car started again, I drove it home but right as I pulled into the driveway it stalled out. I again can't get it to turn over. If I turn on the interior light and radio they work, when I turn the key they dim, but the car doesn't turn over (or do anything like chug) when I stop turning the key the lights and radio are off.

So I am assuming its the alternator. Or the electrical system. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Sirs, I turned the ignition and it did not turn over, took in the battery and had it re-charges at Checkers. Was told the charge would hold. Re-installed the battery and the engine still does not turn over. It does not make a loud whirring noice. It makes the same noice as it did just before starting.
Does this mean the distributer, carberator? What is checked after the battery is tested to be good?

Sirs, thank you for the information about not having a carberator. Yes, the engine cranks yet, does not start. It is hard to describe the sound it makes when I turn the ignition. It makes the sound it made when the engine use to start yet, then it made that sound for only a second because it started immediately. It starts by sounding like the engine will start as it did before yet, without starting the engine.
Sorry if that is a poor description. I do not hear any misfiring, any banging, etc.

2002 nissan sentra 1.8 L changed head gasket and did not remove any sensors and will not turn over. Checked connections. Under the intake there is 2 connections that I removed 1 plugs in to a sensor and the other bolts onto block what are they for?

Gasket change, ran great before and will not crank over at all. Checked all connections and grounds.2 connectors below intake 1 to a sensor and the other bolts to the head what are they for? Double checked timing, wiggled wires while trying to crank nothing,

Cycled enging through with ratchet on crank. No noise to starter a few noises at intake. Any ideas?

L4 - 1.8L 1809cc type QG18DE - MFI GAS DOHC

Check Engine Light - Code reports multiple misfires.
Vehicle has 151000 miles, tune up at 146,000, new plugs and Computer Diagnostices. Air Flow Meter/Sensor replaced.

For the past few weeks, the car cranks fine, but a little sputter for maybe 10 seconds or so. I use Fuel Additive abour twice a month to keep injectors, etc. Clean. After 10 seconds runs fine, normal (good) acceleration, and gas mileage still right at 30mpg.

New Computer "brain" installed by dealer when I took the car in for re-call work just before warranty expiration at 100,000 miles. So new brain only has 53,000 miles.

Q: Could the Crank Sensor be causing this? I can replace it myself, easily assesible, and not expensive.

What has happened is you have a slightly blown headgasket or cracked head. The brief miss you encountered was water entering the cylender after parking it and it would take a while to burn off. NOW, you cylender has filled w/gas and will not allow a crank. Pull your plugs and tthen crank it. The gas wioll spew from the suspect cyleinder

Problem turns out to be Catalytic Converter. There was an overiding code for that. The Converter is the factory original with 150+k miles.

The Converter is "clogged" or just dead. The clue is black soot around the end of the tailpipe. The converter is no longer converting and Carbon is/has built up in the interleaving material. This puts back pressure into the cylinders and keeps the fuel and oxygen from entering sufficiently.

Luckily, the engine still fires enough to blow out the blockage after a few seconds. But it has, and is, getting worse.

I will get the Cat Converter replaced, but I have had suggestions from mechanics to "poke a hole or two" in the "Cat" for a temporary remedy until I can get the car into the shop. Of course, it still will not pass an emissions inspection.

Catalytic Converter blockage can also occur from driving through deep puddles (fills with water causing corrosion) or mud, etc.

My 2001 Nissan Sentra will not turn over. It was starting fine then with little warning, failed to turn over. Everything else turns on, and I tried to jump it but nothing happened, so I don't think its the battery. There is no sound when I turn the key; no clicking, nothing but a very faint hum. Starter solenoid? -Dave

I tried to start the car yesterday and no luck. It turns, but will not go on. We sprayed starter fluid in the air filter and it wanted to turn, but didn't. Any ideas on the problem?
