2009 Mercedes Benz C300 Key wont work

Key not unlocking or locking door and won't start car once in ignition something is wrong with the key not the car because the spare key is working to do all of those functions but the other key is not working is there a way to open key up and see if there is batteries that needs to be replaced otherwise do you know the approximate cost if the chip in the key is bad

All the chips I have seen don't run on batteries even hardware stores make chipped keys these days. The one in my town even says they test them.Now for a car like yours they may not.From the dealer I have heard some of those keys costing up to 500.It maybe less then that I have no info on key prices.But I would check hardware stores and lock smiths for prices and if they can make keys for you.Then compare to the dealer.
