I recently lifted my 09 rubicon with stage 1 4"inch lift with 37/12.50, When I shifted into 4w, something snapped and now I cannot put the jeep in 4x4, the movement on the shifter, is completely loose! I can go from neutral to 4 low and not lock in my 4x4. What should I look for when I get it looked at?

IF IT AIN'T IN THE LINKAGE

IT'S IN YOUR CASE....DIY WOULD BE EXPENSIVE ENOUGH!

HATE TO SEE WHAT A SHOP WOULD CHARGE!

THE ALUMINUM CASED TRANNYS AND TRANSFER CASES JUST DON'T HOLD UP LIKE THE OLD CAST IRON JOBS

PROBABLY AT IT'S LIMIT WITH THE OVER-SIZED STOCK TIRES

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/jeep-grand-cherokee-1997-jeep-grand-cherokee--2

I'D BE DOIN' SOME SEARCHING AROUND FOR PRICES, BEFORE I'D COMMIT TO THE 1ST SHOP I CAME ACROSS

ANY EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE CASE?

DID YOU LOOK EVERYTHING OVER GOOD WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND SOMEONE "TOGGLING" THE SHIFTER?

I AIN'T MUCH HELP,

NOT TOO LONG AGO REBUILT MY TRANNY, THEN MY TRANSFER CASE SHELLED OUT, FROM LACK OF OIL TO THE TAIL SECTION (LAST MAN WHO HAD IT, OVER USED SILICONE GASKET. I STIRRED IT UP, WHEN I PULLED MY TRANNY, IT PLUGGED UP MY OIL HOLES).....IT LOCKED UP AT 55, TORQUED AND BROKE THE CASE TOO.

'77 CJ 5....I GOT BY USING SOME DIPLOMACY AND SOME DIY, ON A USED CASE, VERY INEXPENSIVELY.

LAST PIC--$800 LAYING THERE, FOR ME TO COMPLETELY REPLACE EVERYTHING IN MY T-150 3 SPEED TRANNY....ALL DIY!

I SAW ONE "READY TO GO", AT A 4WD STORE FOR $2500.....KINDA GLAD I SORTA LEARNED HOW TO DO THIS STUFF MYSELF!
